□モンサルヴァット・アート・フェスティヴァル・工房一般公開

Montsalvat Arts Festival 2021

Sunday, 21 November 2021 | 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM

In celebration of our brilliant art and active community, Montsalvat opens our gates to an exciting day of outdoor activities, music, performances, open studio programs and workshops for all ages.

Monsalvat’s 24 studio artists will open their doors to provide you with the opportunity to meet with them, gain insight into their artistic process, and purchase some of their originals.

You will explore a diverse community of emerging to well-established artists, across various mediums and disciplines. Accompany us, be inspired and support each of our artist’s unique practice, ranging from painters, sculptors, ceramicists, photographers, jewellers, puppeteers, designers, textile and glass artists.

Arrive in the morning to see the delightful Callisto Strings perform as you enter through the Barn Gallery. Bring the whole family along and share a laugh with Tilly and The Big Funny Giant, performed and crafted by the Jesters Workshop at Montsalvat.

Unwind and relax into the afternoon and have a dance to our outdoor music line-up featuring The Experience, STAV. and Stefanía. With five exhibitions across our gallery spaces and an exclusive feature exhibition, Montsalvat: The Beginnings, we invite you to explore our vast collection and experience new stories of our local community.

Expect plenty of all-day festivities, including artist talks, Clay Talk ceramic workshops and kids craft activities, all set within the wondrous 12 acres of Montsalvat’s beautiful gardens and heritage buildings.

Come and capture the warmth of the spring season. Explore our event website for ticketing information and further details of our program.

■5days Summer Workshop at Sturt Contemporary Craft Centre in Mittagong NSW
□ミッタゴンのSTURTにて、5日間集中サマーワークショップ開催

In this Summer Workshop, I will focus mainly on TWO things.

ONE  is to navigate you to find your own form. I will discuss with each student their ‘current’ form and then the student will be guided to discover their new form by doing section throwing, assembling, making collages on paper, and creating paper vessels.

We will visit Sturt Pottery’s permanent collection cottage on Day1 and discuss vessels form and techniques for your warm-up.

My SECOND  focus will be on observing your ‘current’ skills, and teaching you further throwing skills meticulously, in order to take you to the next level. It does not matter what shape you are making, I want you to challenge taller, wider, and finer piece in this workshop.

This is my first ever long-hours workshop, which gives me abundant time to teach you & discuss about the many aspects of pottery. All students will be invited to the Artist tutor’s visual presentation talk after the classes. I am planning to talk about my journey as a potter, and experience of Artist-In-Residency in Arita, Japan.

For those interested in my 5 days intensive throwing workshop from 5th Jan to 9th Jan in 2022, please register your interest  HERE . Alternatively, please contact Pheobe at Sturt Contemporary Craft Centre.

2022年の1月4日から9日まで5日集中で磁器の轆轤ワークショップを行います。コロナ禍の為、人数制限がございますので、ご希望の方は早めにお申込みください。尚、現時点では全く手付金なしで申し込むことが可能です。

■Solo exhibition at Gosford Regional Gallery
□ゴスフォード・リージョナル・ギャラリーにて個展

immerse-1I will be exhibiting my new body of work at the Gosford Regional Gallery from 13th December until 1st February. I challenged the new slab technique for thin porcelain pieces and I drew images of my surroundings (Brisbane water area) in the Central Coast. The images of water, yachts, and boats are captured onto my pieces.

Gosford Regional Gallery has beautiful Japanese garden (stone garden, pond with KOI fish, wisteria, cherry blossom, plum, and tea house) which was created by professional Japanese gardeners from Japan. It is a part of sister city (Gosford city and Edogawa, Tokyo are sister city) contribution/exchange program.

While my exhibition is on, there are TWO exhibitions:

The Archibald Prize exhibition [22 Nov 2014 – 4 Jan 2015]

2nd Tamworth Textile Triennial [10 Jan 2015 – 22 Mar 2015]

I will be at the opening on Saturday 13th December. I look forward to seeing you.
